My passion on an academic level...
“Literature is the art of discovering something extraordinary about ordinary people, and saying with ordinary words something extraordinary.”
~Boris Pasternak
English has always been my favorite academic discipline. But if I had the chance to either teach English as a second language or literature; I would definitely
teach the latter. I have always been very fond of philosophy and language, and literature is, to me, a link between those two fields. I love linking emotions, passion, wisdom and intelligence to philosophical concepts, such as balance and freewill, to finally decode the underlying meaning of a text.
I still have a lot to learn before I am close to consider myself as a
litterateur, but I feel like I am on the right path. I have never been close to
enjoy learning something than how I am when it comes to literature or
philosophy. It drives me, it captivates me, and it even obsesses me. If my
bachelor degree was only about attending literature and philosophy’s courses; I
would almost be in heaven. My main professional objective is to whether teach
English or to teach literature therefore, it remains teaching. That is the
reason why I have chosen to complete a bachelor degree in teaching English as a
second language. That way, I am insured to have the opportunity to teach, at
least, one of my favorite academic disciplines. Who knows, perhaps my master
degree will have a connection with literature, and if things go well for me
enough to complete a PhD in literature; I will have the huge pleasure to teach
literature in English at the university level.
There are some of my essays available to read in the following files. I do not
pretend to be talented enough to be published on the internet; but this is from
far what I enjoyed doing the most at the university level. You will also find one argumentative text in French. There are also some personal comments along with the files.

This essay is perhaps my favorite. I started with absolutely no clue on what to do
with the topics provided by the teacher, and ended up not being able to stop
adding element to my paper. This essay refers to the movie “The matrix” and
relates to the concept of freewill and balance. My main objective was to question the significance of authority imposed on human beings. This paper is the final essay of my pop culture course which I did during my autumn session in 2010.

This one is related to Twin peak & A Street car named desire. I did this essay during in my Pop culture's course in autumn 2010. I loved watching the Twin peak tv show. For this take-home exam, even if we were only asked to watch the pilot episode only; I watched the movie as well as the whole first and second season. My main objective for this take home exam was to explore how the paternal authority is represented in Twin peak and to relate to the novel called a street car of desire to personify socio-economical aspect to the decadence associated to bourgeois Humanist culture in the 1930's and 1940's.

Waiting for Godot was the final essay of my course "Survey of English Literature" in 2009. This essay was very difficult and this is the only reason why I decided to post it here. I have passed endless nights trying to do something out of this confusing story, and the final product relates to the consequences of a life based on only hope which annihilate the prospect of actions.

Frankenstein is my second essay in Survey of English Literature. I loved that book
so much that I got caught in my passion to end up delivering a work without structure and filled with mind-provoking elements. I know that if I would do this essay over again; it would turn out to be very good. However, I will leave it the same as it was, and even add that I did not get a good mark for it. My main objective was to discover the essence of Frankenstein's creation, and I am proud to say that I have actually succeeded using my only own ideas. After this essay, my teacher sat with me and he explained me in depth how to accurately structure an essay. I will always be thankful to him for that attention.

Beowolf was my first essay done at the university level in Survey of English Literature. It was done during my autumn session of the year 2009. My main objective was to make a link between the seven deadly sins and the story. I couldn't believe that our teacher was giving us carpe diem on our thesis statement, and it has allowed me to explore the deepest part of my imagination. I had so much fun doing this essay, and I got very encouraging feedbacks from my teacher.

My essay "American psycho" was done in my 20th Century American Literature's course during my session of winter 2011. This essay's objective was to provide a reason for the novel's protagonist's madness using the concept of existentialism.

This essay was done during my summer session of the year 2010. This is the only paper in French I have done at the university level given the fact that I have taken only one French course. This paper is about the place for the users of drugs in our society.
